Climate actions

Maintaining wetlands, biotypes, bushes and stepping stones integrity

Objective

Conserve the ecosystem integrity.

Description

Restoration or construction of wetlands to recover the self-purification capacity of ecosystems linked to the surface water network or to use the water storage capacity for the reservoir (e.g. protection of water bodies located downstream from potential flood peaks). Preserving the animal and vegetable ecosystems and cleaning damaged areas allows to preserve the naturalness of the territories. Placing stepping stones allows to reduce the strength of the water flow.

These actions promote traditional activities that allow the management of agro-productive interests (naturalistic and environmental elements). The management of animals and plant species, with their relative biocenosis, must be coordinated in a way that the utilization of these species agrees with conservation and reproduction requisites. Where possible, building activities (demolition, rebuilding and renovation), include the constructor’s duty to restore the environment and to improve plant elements (arboreal and floristic) present in the building’s area. Within these areas, building’s plans and projects must be integrated with studies and plans involving recovery and reintegration of environmental and natural elements.

Expected results

Green areas, areas full of bushes and other arboreal elements and wetlands preserved.

Result indicators

Involved actors

Governments, private sectors, civil society organization, environmental specialists.
